Hawker, Charles William Seymour


He was the son of Frederick Arthur Hawker of Winchester and was born at Wickham, Hampshire. He came to Winchester from Eagle House School. In August 1914 he was learning estate management and immediately enlisted in the Public Schools Battalion, obtaining a commission the month after in the 13th Battalion Hampshire Regiment. He acted as transport officer to the battalion and later was appointed transport officer at Brigade Headquarters at Wool. He was invalided out in January 1916, suffering from illness contracted on service, and died in Switzerland on 13th March 1918.
