Haden, Frederick Haughton


He was the only child of the Reverend Frederick William Haden, of Adel Rectory, Leeds, and came to Winchester from Mr. Tabor’s school at Cheam. He went on to Radley, where he won the Military Prize in 1916, and matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge, in the autumn of 1916 hoping to go up as soon as the war was over with the intention of being ordained. ┬áHe was gazetted to the Rifle Brigade, and joined the 1st Battalion at the front in June 1917. He fell at Monchy Le Preux on November 4th of that year, while serving with a trench mortar battery.
