Hamilton, George Edward Archibald Augustus Fitzgeorge


He was the son and heir of Sir Charles Edward Archibald Watkin Hamilton, 5th Baronet, of Iping House, Midhurst. His mother was Olga, daughter of Rear Admiral Sir Adolphus Augustus Frederick Fitzgeorge, KCVO, a great-grandson of H.R.H. The Duke of Cambridge, 7th son of King George III. He came to Winchester from Mr. Hawtrey’s school at Westgate, and had always intended to enter the Army. He passed into Sandhurst early in 1916, and afterwards obtained a commission from the Grenadier Guards, proceeding to France late in 1917. He was killed by a bomb from an aeroplane at Warlincourt, near Arras, on May 18th 1918.
