Sandeman, Sydney Robert


He was the only son of George Paris Sandeman of 42 Kensington Square, London and Ethel Moore Sandeman, nee Mason. He entered Sergeant’s from Sandroyd School and became a Commoner Prefect. He played in Commoner XV and stood on Dress for VI. In 1906 he went up to University College, Oxford, and afterwards served for some years in the Territorial Force. He resigned in 1913, but rejoined immediately war broke out and was posted to the 2nd London Brigade Royal Garrison Artillery.   He fell at St. Julien, near Ypres, on April 22nd, 1915, the first day of the Second Battle of Ypres.
